The Sapphire HD 3850 AGP 8X video card wouldn’t work on my old pentium 4 pin 478 operating system. I have a 865GM-L motherboard and it contains a ICH5 chipset. Please help, what are the modern video cards available for this? Will a 3650 work?

The HD3850 AGP should work on your 865GM-L motherboard. It’s an AGP 8x card and the 865GM-L has an AGP 8x slot. Perhaps you have to specify in BIOS to use the AGP card instead of the on-board video.

So I got a GeForce 5200 FX PCI card with 256MB onboard memory. I have it hooked up to my widescreen lcd television with a VGA cable. Why can’t I get the thing to work at resolutions over 1024X768? Is that the highest it will go? Can I get it to run in widescreen?
Is there any PCI card that will support wide screen?

Hey that is the card I have. Most likely you also have nvidia drivers. When you loaded your nvidia drivers you put a nvidia control panel in your control panel. You can make any adjustment on your nvidia control panel.

and download updated drivers.

I have no problem with 1024 x 786. Also you should use your s-video cable.
