Computer games???????

Are you familiar with Sierra computer games like Torin`s Passage, Dr. Brain, or Battle Beast? Do you know who Al Lowe is?

Well, if I wanted to create games like these and combine artistic design with intellectual puzzle-solving, then what career would that be? Graphic design? Computer software/video game design?

I want to do what Al Lowe did!!

You would be a software designer. I don’t know about Al Lowe, but I have a cousin who’s a software designer for special effects animation. His brother wrote what became the underwriting software for the mortgage company Diteck. They’re both millionaires. My guess is you have high aptitude for a career like that, as I probably do. The job market for software designers isn’t what it was in the latter 90′s, but it doesn’t have to be. I tried to follow in my cousin’s footsteps and I enrolled in tech school, but some of the textbooks were written in special english by foreigners and that drove me nuts. Rather than trying to be "certified" in programming, I wish I had:

1) Stayed enrolled in the tech courses that were good, and

2) Dropped or taken the "pass final exam" option for the bad classes to get around the fluffed-up special-english text books and homework (I bought alternative books that were written for my learning style and studied them instead.)

3) Continued to pursue my biology degree or employment that I was already doing back in the 90′s.

I did accomplish something that was very important to me though. I wrote my book! I know you don’t want an autographed promo copy, so I won’t push it at ya;-)

If it’s not exactly just for online games, what kind of computer would be a little more than sufficient for software games. i’m not interested in online games but just games like the sims 2.
would a computer for software games be cheap.

A gaming computer is normally considered a high end computer for those whom want to get the best graphics and experience out of software game.

However most games can be run with most mid range computers. Games like the Sims 2 could most likely run on a computer 2 years old or so and still run on pretty high graphics and would enable you a good experience.

I would recommend buying a mid range computer. This would enable you to enjoy most of the games currently out there and would allow you to be able to play games for a few years to come, more if you spend a little money on upgrades down the road.

I was wondering if you can put Windows software and computer games on a Linux operating system and have them work properly?

Depends on the program. Programs like Firefox have a Linux version, but programs like Microsoft Word do not.

Backup your xbox, Wii, & PSP Games
